2026-2027 Rules of Sailing

RC Land Yachts are subject to the same rules when racing as nautical craft apart from;

RULE 18 CHANGE.

Buoy room is extended to 5 metres due to the speed of these yachts.

PENALTIES (the pit area).

Instead of a 360 turn like normal sailing penalty turns, any land yacht that is required to do a penalty, must enter the pit area and stop their boat, in any way they like, for 3 seconds before rejoining the race. IE: they can luff up or manually stop the boat by hand etc. It must be from an upwind direction as soon as practical. If the boat is on a downwind run when the penalty occurs, then they must enter the pits the next time they are on an upwind tack. More info on our blog

Whilst rules are necessary for racing, please don’t forget to have a good time sailing these craft. It can be very fast, so accidents are bound to happen. Laugh it off and give each other a bit more space next time…
